Busan Cinema Center

Busan was designated as Asia’s first “UNESCO Creative City of Film” and is where the Busan International Film Festival, the hub of Asian film, is held. To match its reputation, Busan has a special place, the Busan Cinema Center.

The Busan Cinema Center is the dedicated hall for the Busan International Film Festival and a cultural complex where various movies and performances are shown and events are held at usual times. The building is composed of Cinemountain, Double Cone and BIFF Hill with the “Big Roof,” the world’s largest roof. The center also has a large outdoor theater with 4,000 seats that boasts Korea’s largest outdoor screen (24 m × 13 m). There are amenities such as cafés, restaurants and art shops. The Cinema Center is also one of sites where the music video of “Daddy” by world star Psy was filmed.

Free regular performances in the Busan Cinema Center



1. Dureraum Saturday outdoor concert

Concerts are held in the outdoor theater of the Busan Cinema Center from May to September 10. Various performance genres such as fusion Gugak, percussion, classical music and magic shows are held. The performances start at 5:00 pm every Saturday. Make sure to check in advance as there are weeks when there is no performance.




2. Outdoor screenings
You can attend free movie screenings at the outdoor theater of the Busan Cinema Center. The movies start at 8:00 pm every Wednesday from May through September. Movies produced in various countries are shown, and on September 7 and 21, a special screening is conducted where silent movies are shown with an orchestra accompanying them.

CATs TGIF Party
CATs Sasang IndieStation, comprising 27 shipping containers, is a special culture facility where youth indie performances and art programs are held. In this place, the “CATs TGIF Party” is held in the evening every Friday. It comprises performances by various local indie musicians, and admission is free.

Korea’s No. 1 beach, Haeundae Beach


Haeundae Beach is the country’s representative beach. High-rise buildings line the beach, which is over 1.5 km long. Various amenities such as luxury hotels, restaurants and cafés are found around the beach. Special festivals and events such as the Haeundae Sand Festival, an eco-friendly festival with sand as the theme, and the Busan Sea Festival, a summer spectacle festival, are also held.

Exciting undersea tip, SEA LIFE Busan Aquarium

This large aquarium on Haeundae Beach has about 10,000 marine organisms of 250 species on exhibit. You can tour eight theme zones and walk through an undersea tunnel that stretches 270 degrees. There are also thrilling experience programs such as diving in a water tank with sharks and touring the main shark tank in a glass bottom boat.

Enjoy one-stop shopping in the world’s largest department store, Shinsegae Department Store Centum City Branch
Shinsegae Department Store Centum City Branch is in the Guinness Book of Records as the world’s largest department store. Besides many shopping spaces, it has entertainment facilities such as a large spa, ice rink and movie theater. Various dining facilities serving Korean, Western, Japanese, and fusion food are also available. On the ninth floor of the department store is ZOORAJI Park, an outdoor rest place with dinosaurs as the theme. And a duty free shop is housed in Centum City Mall connected to Shinsegae Department Store.
