Enjoy both the traditional and natural beauty of Korea

The Danoje Festival, a local ritual ceremony, is held in Gangneung, Gangwon-do around Dano Day (May 5 on the lunar calendar), which is a traditional Korean holiday. The Gangneung Danoje Festival is a historical festival in Korea and has been put on the UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity list.

The Gwanno Mask Drama, a representative performance in the Gangneung Danoje Festival, is held regularly every Saturday from April through November (except for July and August) at the outdoor stage of Ojukheon House and Gangneung Municipal Museum. It has both ritual and recreational characteristics and is the only mime composed of only dance and gestures among Korean mask dramas. Ojukheon House and Gangneung Municipal Museum has a lot of things to see besides performances of the Gwanno Mask Drama because it is a historic site related to Shin Saimdang and her son Yulgok Yi I, great people of Korea. Shin Saimdang appears on the 50,000 won bill and Yulgok Yi I appears on the 5,000 won bill. Your trip will be satisfying because you can enjoy the beautiful neighboring sea and lake and not only the traditional performance and museum.
